Queen We Will Rock You

Queen We Will Rock You is a very simple: “stomp, stomp, clap” with a fantastic guitar riff at the end. Simple it may be but it’s a perfect song and can relate to everyone. That’s why people love this song so much. Yes, it can bring people together with every race, sex, colour, etc.

This song is fantastic for stomping and clapping !. In a way it may lack the elegance of much of Queen’s incredible work, but We Will Rock You is so catchy and real you can’t help but sing along.

Queen We Will Rock You is undoubtedly one of the best songs of all the time and probably one of the most covered songs ever. But nobody can sing it like Freddie.

Many believe this is the best song Queen ever made. Feel free to post what you think below !.

Why The Song Was Written

Queen We Will Rock You, and “We Are the Champions” were written because of an event that happened on the 1977 British Tour. The band had played a gig at Stafford’s Bingley Hall and had performed the obligatory encore and gone off stage. The crowd stopped clapping and sang ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’. Brian May said

‘we were just completely knocked out and taken aback – it was quite an emotional experience really, and I think these chant things are in someway connected with that’

Queen We Will Rock You is only 2 minutes in length and was written by Brian Mayqueen we will rock you
and obviously sung by Freddie Mercury. It was released on the B-side of WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS on 7th October, 1977.

One version of Queen We Will Rock You was used as the opening track on their 1977 album News of the World. This version consists of a stamp-stamp-clap-pause beat. The stamping effects were created by the band overdubbing the sounds of themselves stomping and clapping many times and adding delay effects to create a sound like many people were participating. When performed live, this version is usually followed by “We Are the Champions”, another of the album’s hits, as they were designed to run together.

The double A-side reached number 4 on the U.S. Billboard singles chart, becoming their second hit in the U.S. On the 45 of the song’s original vinyl record release, Queen We Will Rock You was actually the flip side of “We Are the Champions” in Britain, however the American record company requested to put the two songs together as a “double A-side” because American radio stations were playing them back to back. This is a reason why the songs are often paired on the radio and at sporting events, where they are frequently played.

Queen also performed the song with a different arrangement (known as the “fast version”). This features a faster tempo and a full guitar, bass and drums backing track throughout. The band often opened their live sets in the late 1970s and early 1980s with this version, as captured on their 1979 Live Killers double album, on Queen Rock Montreal (2007), and on the Queen on Fire – Live at the Bowl album released in 2004.

Queen And Five

In 2000, English boyband Five covered Queen We Will Rock You. The song, featured on their second studio album Invincible, features Queen guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor. It reached number one on the UK Singles Chart during the summer of 2000.
